Greetings Members and Friends of the SSAS,
The summer is gone, fall is upon us and as always happens at this time of year, the foot traffic at the Scituate Lighthouse wanes to the point that we close down our sidewalk astronomy outreach operations for the season.
Please consider joining us for one last harbor hurrah for the season, tomorrow evening (Saturday) beginning around 6:30pm. The forecast is for a completely clear sky with good transparency and reasonably good seeing. The temperatures will be mild in the mid-50's with a light and variable breeze.
A young crescent moon and Venus will grace the western sky at sunset, and shortly after that Saturn will pop in the southeastern sky. Bring your telescope, binoculars, or just your eyes and enjoy a relaxing evening in a remarkable seaside setting.
This will most likely be more of a club observing session than an outreach, as the numbers of passersby tends to dwindle significantly as we roll on towards winter. Come armed with your target requests and we'll do our darnedest to accommodate them under the conditions we're presented with. With those bright parking lot lights we can't make any promises, except that we'll try our level best to get you at least some kind of rendering of your target if at all possible.
Hope to see you all there!
Mike and Louis
