[Friends_of_SSASTROS] "Silent Sky" theatrical production in Braintree

Hi to all members of the South Shore Astronomical Society - My name is Michael Pevzner, and  I am writing about the production of Lauren Gunderson's play about early 20th Century astronomer, Henrietta Leavitt, SILENT SKY, to be presented March 1, 2, 3, 8, 9, 10, by Curtain Call Theatre of Braintree.     Some of your members saw the play last winter, 2023, when it was produced by the Bay Players in Duxbury.  I was the director of that production and then was asked to direct it again for Curtain Call Theatre in Braintree.  I happened to meet one of those members who was most complimentary and when I told her the play would be produced again, she mentioned to be sure to let your organization know.     I know you have a monthly meeting coming up, and I was hoping you could spread the word about this exciting local production of the play.  It has a wonderful cast portraying the women of the Harvard Astronomy Lab in the early 1900s, the "computers" as they were called.  But their contributions to astronomical science were groundbreaking and set the stage for the enormous discoveries to come.  The play is a theatrical retelling of that exciting period and the challenges faced by Ms Leavitt as she pushed ahead in the predominantly male world of science. SILENT SKY is presented with projections of stars and galaxies from the NASA files filling the stage and a sound track that enhances the visual spectacle.
