My camera made the aurora much more intense than I saw it. Here's my edited
version of the what the camera saw. It's still not exactly how I perceived
it, but it's closer.

Subject: Plympton Perseids Report
I hope you got a chance to view some meteors! On Sat/Sun night, Carolyn and
I and Brendan were out in our yard from about 10:30 until 12:30. We saw a
handful (maybe 10?). The clouds kept coming over, then clearing a bit, and
repeating that. This morning, I was out from 1:30 until about 3:30. It was
clear, dark, and great. I counted 67 Perseids and 3 strays. Of the 67, 44
were what I call "bright" - 2nd magnitude or brighter, and the rest "faint".
THEN.at around 2:18.the Northern Lights sprung up into the sky. A curtain
of pink, with vertical striations, just rose up and brightened. It varied a
little and after about 5-8 minutes, the dropped down again, and were out of
sight. For a sonic backdrop during the light display, Pink Floyd's Shine On
You Crazy Diamond was up in our Meteor Watching Playlist shuffle. Wow.
