 Hi Mike,
Nice report about the headlights on the moon.  Your depiction triggered me to go dig in the archives to see if I’d imaged this area previously.  And sure enough, here is an image from February 11, 2022 thru a 5” refractor.  For the heck of it, it tried to blend an automobile (with headlights on) into this image, but it did not translate very well.  So here is the original.
Hoping for a lunar cruise night soon!!
Steve

Greetings Friends and Members of the SSAStros,
As most of you are aware, my enthusiasm for exploring our silly Moon knows no bounds. Over the past couple of years I've begun issuing my own version of guides to lunar exploration called the "Luna-See Challenge Series." Attached you will find issue #4, which focuses on a couple of bright spots located in the southeast highlands, which are sometimes referred to as the "headlights on the Moon." These features are especially well placed during the full moons of October, November and December of this year, so yes, the timing of this issuance is intentional.

The document is attached to this email as a PDF. I hope you enjoy it!
Sincerely,
Mike McCabe
