Greetings Fellow Astronomy Enthusiasts,
This Wednesday, February 1st marks the date of our monthly meeting. The meeting will be held in the large meeting room at the Scituate Town Library and will begin promptly at 7pm. The meeting will also be broadcast on Zoom, and although we are making efforts to improve the quality of that experience we admittedly have yet to become masters of it, so if at all possible your in-person attendance is encouraged.
The agenda includes a review of January activities, updates from our section coordinators, information about upcoming activities and observing opportunities, and a feature presentation by Jim Ahola on imaging software/setup/cabling and remoting.
The business and review portion will be expedited in the most efficient manner possible to allow ample time for the feature presentation, after which we will repair to the library grounds for observing. The forecast is calling for clear skies, and if that's the case our goal is to focus on sharing views of the very popular-of-late comet C/2022 e3 ZTF, which will be making its closest approach to Earth during our meeting.
Depending on how many scopes we get set up, other targets may be on offer as well. The Moon will be almost 90% waxing gibbous, so deep sky work will be limited but there are plenty of bright targets populating the sky now so no worries. BRING YOUR BINOCULARS!!!
You can find a link to the Zoom meeting on our website at; http://www.ssastros.org/testsite/index.html
Hope to see you all there!
Mike McCabe
