[Friends_of_SSASTROS] Hingham Gallery Event

Greetings Friends and Members of the South Shore Astronomical Society,
Yesterday, several members met that the Hingham Public Library to take part in populating a section of their art gallery with a collection of images produced by a broad cross-section of our club membership. I'd like to extend a sincere thank you to Louis Gentile and Sue D'Acangelo for organizing this special club event, and to Hal Schaefer, Steve LaFlamme, Jim Rutledge, Barry DeCristofano, George Chambers, Jim Ahola and Matt Schricker for their contributions to the display. All manner of astrophotography are represented, from nighttime skyscapes to deep sky wonders. I think you'll all agree that our club has once again been wonderfully represented through the efforts of our enthusiastic and talented imagers. 
The display at Hingham includes many images shown in past exhibitions, along with several new ones from more recent efforts by our intrepid astro-imaging group. You don't want to miss this!
In addition to the pictures displayed, we'll be hosting an opening night gala at the library next Wednesday evening, August 9th, beginning at 6pm. Shortly after 7pm, we'll be able to occupy the presentation room where three talks will be offered;
   
   - Steve LaFlamme will present a talk on backyard astrophotograhy...
   
   - Matt Schricker will present a talk on light pollution, and...
   
   - Jim Ahola will present a talk titled Comet Comes, Husband Reforms...
At our past gallery events we were able to deploy telescopes outside and share views through eyepieces and even through cameras with event attendees, but with a nearly 8pm sunset and no Moon or planets in the sky at that time, it's not looking like telescopic observing will be possible during the timeline of the event. We will, however, have a couple of telescopes with us and if the conditions allow we plan to conduct some stargazing after the close of the library. 
We are looking forward to seeing everyone at the Hingham Public Library next Wednesday evening. The library is located at 66 Leavitt Street (and also abuts Rte. 228) with entrances on both Leavitt Street and Rte. 228. The gallery is locate to the immediate right of the main entrance on the lower level, and the meeting room is to the right of the gallery.
