Greetings SSAStros Members,
Tomorrow night, Saturday, the 24th is one of our R.A.C.T. scheduled deep-sky observing nights at Centennial Field, and the forecast looks favorable for viewing.
So, let's do this! Every member and all friends of the SSAS that have the availability are encouraged to join us for an impromptu GOODBYE SUMMER STAR PARTY!
The Sun sets at 6:30pm and we can begin observing in earnest by 7:30pm. And, we have a plan; We often speak about observing through small scopes, big scopes and binoculars as well. Louis and I are going to tag team a bunch of targets. We will have a large telescope set up and a small telescope set up. All attendees are encouraged to bring a set of binos to the session. We will help you find the object in your binoculars if you need it, then you will be offered the opportunity to compare the views of the same object in both small and large telescopes. Of course anybody who wants to bring their own scope is always welcome to do so. The more the merrier!
I'm planning on arriving a little early, hopefully by 6pm. I'll probably also pick up a sub sandwich on the way and make it a little picnic/social sit down if anyone else decides to do the same.
Looking forward to seeing all those who can make it!!!
Mike M.
