[Friends_of_SSASTROS] October Observing Objectives

Greetings SSAStros Members and Friends,
We were gifted with a spectacular evening last night, and I chose to use it to observe the October target list. You'll find my summary (a bit lengthy for the body of the email) attached as a PDF. If you're short on time, new to the hobby, or just plain lazy ;-) I've narrowed the list down to a "best of" collection;
Open Cluster;  IC 4756 - The Tweedledee ClusterGlobular Cluster;  M22 - (if accessible from your location, otherwise M13)Double Star; Delta Cepheus - (bright, wide, any scope will do it)Planetary Nebula; M27, - The Dumbell NebulaGalaxy; M31 - The Great Andromeda Galaxy (naked eye under dark skies, otherwise easy with binos)Planet; Jupiter - SO bright this year!
I also caught a glimpse of an early Orionid meteor streaming off into the northeast. Recent shared resources include the path to Neptune and finding Andromeda, both great binocular targets. Neptune has moved significantly over the past few weeks and now sits just ahead of Vern's Parallelogram, looking like a buck tooth protruding from a shark's nose...ok, some imagination at play there.
The next two weeks should provide ample opportunity to get out there and observe under early evening dark skies. Also, just a reminder that this coming Friday is our Mass Medical Society outreach event at Centennial Field. Early forecasts suggest that it will happen as planned. Here's hoping that that's the case!
