OLD BUSINESS

 

1. Scituate Rotary Club on Driftway Rd – Wednesday Oct 22nd 6:00 PM Bill Luzader gives a talk and Louis, George, Paul

2. 50th Anniversary celebration was a great success, club web site has images of the special presentation, members & family members eating and images of the the club from former member and president George East.

           

3. Hingham Cub Scouts – Oct. 17, Mal found how to turn off outdoor lights, good crowd, good viewing

 

4. telescope observing at Cardinal Cushing-St. Colletta’s, near the Rtes 53 and 139 intersection, across from Shaw’s – at sunset on Monday Nov 10

NEW BUSINESS

 

1)     Dues will be unchanged for 2009: $35 dues w/Astronomical League magazine; magazines $33 Sky & Tel and $34 Astronomy

2)     Viewing Dates – Nov 22 & 29 at Centennial Park

3)     Corporation Notice – Tenney Doble received a notice from the MA Secretary of State that nonprofit organizations must file an annual report. SSAS thought that we let our corporation “die in bad standing” so we would not have to pay annual fees. Now the state is looking for the fees for the years that we have not filed annual reports – since 1999.

4)     Web Site changes: e-mail to all members members@ssastros.org all members receive, members only page, 50th Anniversary page will remain

5)     Fri Nov 24 Space Shuttle Endeavour launches on a trip to the Space Station at 7:55 pm – should be seen low in our SE sky 7 minutes after launch
