Meeting Minutes
Nov. 2, 2005
The guest speaker for our meeting was the Executive Editor of Sky and Telescope and Editor of Night Sky magazines Mr. J. Kelley Beatty. Mr. Beatty spoke on the origin of meteorites fond on earth. He explained meteorites make their way from other objects to the earth. The main sources of meteorites are the Moon and Mars. Mr. Beatty explained how scientists determine the source of meteorites. The lecture concluded with Kelley explaining the theory of how life could possibly come from one planet and survive entry into our atmosphere making it possible for a life from Mars to mutate on the earth. Again Mr. Beatty explained that this is a theory proposed by some scientist and has not be found to have actually happened.
