OLD BUSINES

    1.  Programs

         a. Hingham Cub Scouts, Wompatuck New Date in the Spring

         b. Report Dec. 8th Plymouth Civil Air Patrol presentation – Paul Grueter with John Flores made a wonderfully received presentation

         c. Quincy Beaches and Coastal Commission request a telescope observing session  for the spring

         d. Request for a telescope workshop for teachers in the Randolph School system sometime in May (First Quarter Moon on May 20th)

    2.  Dues for 2010

         a. Dues $35 (includes membership in the Astronomical League)

         b. Astronomy Mag. $34.00

         c. Sky and Telescope Mag. $33.00

    3.  Astronomy Day Update – Louis Gentile still working on program – Jay O’Callahan (professional storyteller) may be difficult to get and afford

    4. Treasury balance as of 12/1/09 is $1135.80 – Chuck MacCarthy

 

NEW BUSINESS

    1.  Board of Directors Vacancy – Rolf Egon has resigned from the Board of Directors

         a. Nomination and Election – John Flores of Plymouth nominated for empty Board of Director position and elected

    2.  Board of Directors Winter Meeting – Saturday Feb 13 at 3 pm at the Norwell Council on Aging

    3.  Suggested Viewing Nights – Saturdays Jan 9th and 16th

    4.  “Astronomy a-Go-Go” – Mal MacDonald: a web site with an astronomy podcast; Steve LaFlemme suggests going to iTunes that has many astronomy links

  

OPEN TOPICS

1.      Observatory at Milton Academy open on Friday (Jan 8) and usually first Friday of each month at 6 pm

2.      Program at Weymouth planetarium one Wednesday evening and Saturday afternoon – check school web site and Patriot Ledger

3.      Plymouth Science Fair on Feb 9th – contact Alison Riordan at Plymouth Public schools

4.      The SSAS apparently appears on Google one inquires about telescope donations … Paul Grueter has put a note on club site that explains that we give telescopes to local organizations

5.      8” Orion Dobsonian for sale ($400) from a friend of a club member
