PRESENTATION

 

“The Future of the Planetarium Theatre” by SSAS member Bill Luzader

A review of the history of the planetarium and things learned at the recent International Planetarium Society meeting and DomeFest 2008 at the Adler Planetarium in Chicago, IL.

 

Louis Gentile and Don Greeley reported on a great Friday night (Aug 1) and Saturday morning (Aug 2) at Stellafane in Springfield, VT. Shared some images of various people and telescopes.

 

OLD BUSINESS

 

1.  Board Meeting at Noon on Saturday August 9 at Tenny Doble’s house in Duxbury and then Picnic

 

2.  Plymouth Public Library – 6 people with telescope at 7 pm on Monday August 11 on the front lawn or inside

 

3.  Perseid Meteor Shower observing on the evening of Tuesday August 12 (and maybe into the morning of August 13) at Centennial Park

 

NEW BUSINESS

 

1. telescope program on Oct 22 at Situate Country Club

2. Great viewing on July 26 at Centennial Park – Jupiter, Ring Nebula, Hercules Globular Cluster

4. Monday August 11, 2008 is a telescope event at the Plymouth Public Library on South Street starting at 7:30 pm. Bill Luzader will make a presentation inside starting at 7:30 and then go to telescopes (outside or inside) at 8:30 pm

5. Tenney Doble will host the club cook out at his home on Aug 9 or 10 – watch for more information
